Advanced
Life Support Care
Aero Methow Rescue Service provides 24/7 advanced life support
care (ALS). ALS service is provided by Paramedics, there are
4 full time and 2 backup Paramedics . Paramedics receive extensive training
in patient assessment, treatment, cardiology, emergency medications,
intravenous fluid administration, pediatric emergencies, advanced
airway management and all aspects of care and management of
a prehospital medical or trauma emergency.
Intermediate
Life Support
Aero Methow Rescue Service provides Intermediate Life Support
(ILS) service as a back up to ALS. There is 1 full time, 1 part time and 5 volunteers trained
as EMT-Intermediates (EMT-I). EMT-I’s can provide
extensive prehospital emergency care including; defibrillation,
intravenous therapy, delivery of 5 life saving medications,
advanced airway management and pediatric emergencies.
Standbys
Aero Methow Rescue Service provides emergency standby coverage, when available, at
school athletic events such as; wrestling tournaments, football
games, soccer games, track and field meets, play days and basketball
games, community events such as; motorcycle races, mountain bike
races, hydroplane races, snowmobile races, festivals
and foot races. Aero Methow Rescue Service provides standby coverage
during structure fires to assist with firefighter rehabilitation.

Rescues
Aero
Methow Rescue Service is an active member of the Okanogan
County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Department.
Aero Methow Rescue Service has personnel trained in Swiftwater
Rescue, high angle rescue, snowmobile rescue, rescues by horseback,
foot and ski. Aero Methow Rescue Service has a snowmobile,
snowmobile rescue sled and cargo sled, white water and ice
rescue boat with helmets and life vests, high angle rescue
equipment, rescue cart (a litter on one large wheel for evacuating
patients from the roadless areas), volunteers with horses
and pack mules and volunteers with search and avalanche trained
dogs.

Governing
and Regulatory Agencies
Aero
Methow Rescue Service operates within the Laws and Administrative
Code for Emergency Medical Services and Trauma Systems (RCW 18-71,
18.73 and 70.168 and WAC 246-976), administered by the Washington
State Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical and Trauma
Prevention.
The
Paramedics and EMT’s function under the protocols and
guidelines written and enforced by the Okanogan County Medical
Program Director, Brad Craig, MD. Aero Methow Rescue Service
operates under the guidelines of the Okanogan County Patient
Care Procedures.
Aero
Methow Rescue Service operates under the recommendations of the
Volunteer Fire Insurance Service the insurer of the service.
