Mazama Project

Emergency Response Support Facility - Twisp

On July 15, 2004 an historic Ground Breaking Ceremony was held at the Aero Methow Rescue Service Office in Twisp. A Medical Emergency Response Facility will be constructed next to the existing administrative office. This project is funded with a loan/grant from the USDA Rural Development Office. The terms of the loan is $458,500 for 40 years at 4.375%, the grant is for $65,000.

  The facility will have:

•  3 ambulance bays

•  secured supply room

•  training room

•  kitchen

•  bunk room

•  decontamination area, both inside and outside

•  air lock entry

•  HAM radio station

•  Alternative power source; photo voltaic and propane generator

The purpose of the building is to provide shelter for the ambulances (see photo in photo album for current housing). This will ensure the ambulances can respond quickly and efficiently. Currently all training is done at Liberty Bell High School . This involves prep time to gather equipment, training materials and food and transporting to the High School. The building will be assured a constant power supply and therefore continue to be operational in the event of a power interruption from hours to days.
